Goncharov Escapes! is a short action interactive fiction game, created for the Goncharov Game Jam and the 1-Button Jam 2022.

Help Goncharov Escape!

Play Goncharov, a Russian mobster having moved to Naples, Italy, for... err... reasons. A meeting with the local Don goes haywire, forcing you into a car chase to save your... well, Goncharov's life.  As you fight goons and henchmen with your trusted partner, Andrej, not everything goes to plan.

And not everything is what it seems...

This is  a one-button game. Play the action or let the counter run out. Whatever you do, you will fall on a different path.

The Goncharov Universe

Goncharov is a film that might or might not exist. In one universe, it is a 1973 film about the Naples Mafia, directed by Martin Scorsese, written by Matteo JWHJ0715, and produced by Domenico Procacci, starring Al Pacino and Robert De Niro. Or perhaps it was directed by Matteo JWHJ0715, and merely "presented" by Martin Scorsese. It was called the "greatest Mafia movie ever made", and was renowned for its complex depiction of a cycle of violence and trauma, and for its homoeroticism.

In another universe, "Martin Scorsese Presents Goncharov" is a message found on a shoe caused by a misreading of another film's title, which became a meme on the social media platform Tumblr in November of 2022.

Special thanks to  caramiaaddio  and fireball-me for letting me use their soundtrack for the game!

I was shocked to learn this was just a (...................................... than a...............). The tension was thick in the beginning but I guess that's the testament to the actors acting skills. Great work from an awesome writer.

One little question

In the ending when I hit space on time along all the scene, can I ask what happened to Harvey after his almost confession?

(i'm popping out on some game comments section after I created my account to write my thoughts on the games after playing them, so that's why you may see me jump from the thick table tavern to here😅)

Aaaah thank you (but your first sentence is still a bit of a spoiler :P)

Regarding your question, it is up to you. There is no cannon here. That's the beauty of Goncharov ;)
