Summer of Translations - Français/Nederlands!
Hallo Iedereen!
Voor de eerste week van Juli, is er de vertalling van machina caerulea, voor De Zomer van Vertalingen! Nu bechikbaar in het Frans EN in her Nederlands!
Sixth entry for the The Summer of Translation - my summer project where I attempt to translate as many of my projects to Dutch, releasing one a week. We're back at TWO translations: French and Dutch, this time.I'm a tiny bit late this week, because I realised only yesterday evening that the French translation wasn't done. So I rushed that a bit and just finished coding it!
machina caerulea is another entry for the Neo-Twiny Jam (from last year), which I'd submitted to 3 other jams, but hadn't translated for some reason... (unlike most choice-based NTJ I'd done). Based on the French folktale of Bluebeard, I chose to focus on one of Bluebeard's earlier wives: Blanche. Only mentioned in passing, I thought it would be interesting to bring her back to life and transpose her into a more modern setting (inspired by Ex-Machina). Sort of giving back agency (in a way).
Funnily, this entry sort of echoed Collision, my first NTJ entry. In both the writing style, choice options, and bodily autonomy. I dunno... it's seems to be a recurrent theme.
Not much to say about the translation itself. I was glad for repetitions (so I didn't need to use my dictionary as much), still made some stupid mistakes (sentence structures are the death of me), and learned some new words! I'm also not over the word glimlach, my brain CANNOT link it back to its actual translation (smile/sourire) - I keep thinking of grimace (which I guess? is a sort of smile?).
Anyways! Hope you like revisiting this one. I think it's one of my absolute NTJ favourite entry of mine.
